Arlene J. Meixner, 81, passed peacefully into eternal rest with her family at her side on June 23, 2018. She was born to Walter A. Young and Laura Jeanette (Barnes) Young on March 20, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ, and graduated from Linden High School. She had three brothers, Bertram, Merrill, and Allen, and one sister, Delores. On July 6, 1957, she married Carl E. Meixner and had five children. They moved around and settled in Bridgewater, NJ where they built their own home and raised their children. She worked part-time at the Reynolds Department Store at the Somerville Shopping Center for over 10 years. Arlene was an active member of the Somerville Elks and the Martinsville Methodist Church. In 1983, they relocated to Chincoteague, Virginia. Arlene was a member of the Eastern Star, worked at Shore Bank, and then NASA on Wallops Island for the Navy in Purchasing until her retirement.
Arlene loved the beach, dancing, Bingo, crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Despite lives adversities, she was always cheerful and had a smile for everyone.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, Carl, of 60 years, her daughters Peggy Meixner Waitikowich and husband Stanley Waitikowich, Karen Vogt and husband James Vogt, Carlene Meixner Schiavo and former husband William Schiavo, her grandchildren Marc S. Vogt and wife Lisa M. (Wood) Vogt, Stephanie (Schiavo) Chance and husband Cory Chance, Kevin M. Waitikowich, Randy J. Vogt, and Kris D. Urs, nieces and nephews.
Arlene was pre deceased by her parents, siblings, daughter Laura A Meixner, and son Robert C Meixner.
A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at 4:00 pm- 7:30 pm, on Sunday, July 1st at Raritan Valley Country Club, Bridgewater, NJ. For friends and relatives in MD/VA, a memorial service will be scheduled on Chincoteague Island in the near future. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to your local Hospice.
