Helen Emig Cahill, formerly of Deer Run Drive, Bridgewater,NJ, passed away on September 20 at Brookdale Senior Living Center, Hillsborough, NJ. Born and raised in Philadelphia,PA, she was a graduate of Hallahan High School and Pierce Secretarial School, Class of 1943. Mrs. Cahill resided in Bridgewater for fifty-three years before moving to Brookdale. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-three years, Gerald J. Cahill.
Mrs. Cahill was an active parishioner and volunteer at The Church of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Bridgewater,NJ.She enjoyed traveling with her husband, vacationing at the Jersey shore each summer from the time she was a child and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle every day. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was known for her quick Irish humor and witty sayings.
Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Hannum and her husband, John of Newton, NJ., her sons Jerry Cahill of Hampton, NJ., Michael Cahill and his wife, Diane of Hillsborough, NJ. and Kevin Cahill of Raritan, NJ.; six grandchildren, John, Matthew, Jennifer, Kerry, Joe and Austin; and 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
A Visitation will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, September 24, at The Church of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, 500 Highway US-22 (Eastbound), Bridgewater,NJ. It will be followed at 10am by a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will be at St. Bernard's Mausoleum, next to Church.
