Chesla Kotwick Wechsler, 93, of Bridgewater, NJ, is in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Chesla died peacefully in the comfort of her children on June 4, 2019 after a short illness.   Born in Bound Brook, NJ in 1926 to Frank and Valentina Kotwicki, Chesla graduated from Bound Brook High School. She held several positions, the most long-term and significant one at United Carbide.  It was as an executive secretary at UCC that she met Robert L. (Bob) Wechsler, whom she married in 1962.  Chesla and Bob raised four children, Mary Lou Welch of Alpharetta, GA, Robin Smither of Whitehouse Station, Robert N. Wechsler of Belmar, and Chesla C. Wechsler (husband Chris Olszewski) of Point Pleasant Beach.  Chesla is also survived by her older sister Helen Loccisano of Bridgewater.  Chesla had abounding love for her six grandchildren, Brynn, Molly, Paul, and Maureen Welch of GA, Amy Williams (husband Ryan) and Sean Smither (wife Lynette Bowring), and two great grandsons Jack Williams and Elijah Flanders. She also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews who gave her great joy. She is predeceased by her loving husband Bob, her parents, and her older siblings Anthony Kotwicki, Mary Barr, and Walter Kotwicki.
As a young woman, Chesla was athletic, and played softball, volleyball and golf.  In her 20s and 30s, she painted in oils, and some of her paintings are currently on display at Arbor Glen(now Laurel Circle).  She took up needlework, creating her own dining chair covers.  She bowled for many years for Deborah Hospital and was a cafeteria mom at Immaculate Conception School.  She loved dogs (especially her granddogs), and was always happy to spend time at the Jersey Shore.  A voracious reader, she volunteered at the library at Arbor Glen where she had numerous friends among residents and staff alike.  She enjoyed praying the Rosary with the Rosary group.  Her children were proud of her adoption of technology in her 80s and 90s, learning how to use a Kindle Fire to read books, play games, participate in Facebook, and even email.
Arrangements are through Cusick Funeral Home of Somerville, NJ.  Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, June 6.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM on Friday, June 7.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Catholic Charities or Covenant House.
