Al grew up in Summit Hill PA, one of 13 siblings. Al proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He raised his family in Bridgewater NJ. He worked as a Plant Operations Mechanic at Bell Labs in Warren and Murray Hill NJ. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville NJ.
He enjoyed freshwater fishing, turkey hunting, and gardening. He loved searching for and giving away four-leaf clovers. Most of all he showered his family with love and joy every day. Al was a most caring, loving, and generous husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
He was predeceased by his loving son Alfonso DiMattia in 2008, his Mother Edith and father Alfonso and his brothers and sisters Andy, Pete, Tony, Mary, Josephine, Madeleine, Frances, Edith, and Theresa.
He will be missed and is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret (Sockel), married at St. Ann's in Hampton NJ on June 13, 1959, his daughter Ann and her husband Mario Sapone of Flemington NJ, and his four precious grandchildren Amanda and Joseph Sapone and Devony and Alison DiMattia. His sisters, Ada Fonteneou of Wappingers Falls, NY.
Helen Orach of Landsford, PA and Rita Langevin of Kettle Falls, WA., and all of his loving nieces, nephews and friends.
