Lois M. Janovsky, 88, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday (Dec. 24, 2021) at her son’s home in Manville.
Born in New Brunswick, she lived in Somerset before moving to Bridgewater in 1966. In 2008 she moved to Hillsborough and then to Warren earlier this year.
Lois worked for Ethicon, Inc. and then Devro, Inc. During her employment with Devro, she served on the Supervisory Committee of the Financial Resources Federal Credit Union. After retiring, she worked in the Religious Formation office at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville and then at Everitt Academy in Peapack.
Lois enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Those travels took her to Hawaii, California, Arizona, Ohio, New Orleans for Mardi Gras, Williamsburg, VA; Disney World (yes, you know what you can do with those tickets!), Montreal, Quebec, Italy, Monaco and the French Riviera. She cruised to the Bahamas, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Sr. in 2000; her son Thomas in 2013, and her son William Jr. in March, 2021.
Surviving are her daughter Carolyn (John) Polkowski of Flemington; son David (Irene) Janovsky of Manville; daughter-in-law Sharon Janovsky of Hillsborough; sister Claire Zangara of East Brunswick and six grandchildren Jennifer Janovsky of Methuen, MA; Thomas (Amanda) Janovsky, Jr. of Hillsborough; Jillian (Karol) Konarski of Queens, NY; David Janovsky of Brooklyn, NY; Emily Polkowski of Flemington and Lucas Polkowski of Gainsville, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Martinsville. Visitation will be Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Interment will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bridgewater.
