William Edward Sapp, Sr., 85, passed away on December 30, 2021 at his home in Bridgewater.
He was born in Churchill, Maryland, where he reside until he was a teenager. He moved to Ohio with his mother and brother and worked at Westinghouse until the workers went on strike. They moved back to Maryland where he met his future wife, Rosemary Botrel. They fell in love and were married and had their first two sons before settling in New Jersey. It was there that they had the rest of their family, two more boys and a girl. William did farm work in his earlier life before becoming a truck driver as his career. He worked at seers and our Roebuck, Leaseway transportation and then at PC Richards before retiring in 2004. He was an avid sports fan and quite an athlete in his younger days. He loved the Giants and Mets as well as WWE wrestling. He enjoyed reading the Bible in his later years and decided to get baptized in 2019. He enjoyed driving and taking road trips and was a great lover of country music. He and his wife were married for 57 years before she died in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Fanny (Kimble) Sapp, his two sisters Mary “Betty”, and Lola Kirk (Sapp), as well as his loving wife Rosemary Sapp (Botrel).
Surviving are his brother, John Sapp and wife Carolyn, his brother is law Kenneth Kirk, his five children William E. Sapp, Jr. “Billy”, David, Mark, Elizabeth (Lisa), and Eric.
His two grandsons, Ryan Sapp and wife Amelia, and Miles Hannah.
His two great grandchildren, Landon and McKenzie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
