Raymond Michael Slavic

Raymond Michael Slavic, 90, of Easton, PA, died peacefully at home on February 10, 2022.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Michael and Elizabeth Slavic (nee Jacko) he attended college and ROTC at the University of Kansas where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Raymond went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attended Engineering School at Ft. Belvoir, VA before was honorably discharged as 1st Lieutenant in 1955.

Raymond met his beloved wife Gertrude “Trudy” Spinelli and they were married in 1960 and resided in Green Brook, NJ before settling to Bridgewater where they lived for forty years before retiring to Easton, PA to be closer to their family. He began his career as a Chemical Engineer for AgriCo and U.S. Metals before working at The Picatinny Arsenal as a Chemical Engineer for small armaments. Mr. Slavic continued to serve his country in a civilian capacity with the United States Army at Ft. Monmouth as an Electronic Engineer for Satellite Ground Terminals.

​Raymond was a parishioner of The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Somerville, NJ and currently at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Roman Catholic Church in Easton. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was passionate about tennis and had a natural talent for the game. He enjoyed playing and watching any match he could. Raymond enjoyed Sunday football with his New York teams, the Eagles, and Tom Brady in particular. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family and the quality time spent together.

He was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Dlabik and her husband John and his brother Michael Slavic and his wife Marian. Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Slavic (nee Spinelli), his loving children, Michele Johnson, Michael Slavic and wife Beth, dear family friend Mike Hickey, his four cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Kyle, and Emily, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:00am at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30AM at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum, Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to The Church of the Immaculate Conception or to St. Jane Frances de Chantal.
